Hadrians wall
[info]annacara
Well I have applied to volunteer for the Lighting up of hadrians wall in march. Which will involve standing with a torch on Hadrians wall for a day.
Which I think will look spectacular and something I'd like to be a part off.

Not quite sure how to describe this feeling I have.

Here's the link if your interested

All I can say is what a feast for the eyes.

Stunningly beautiful and a fairly good plot (tho some bits were a little predictable.) Niether me or the normaster felt the passage in time and were thoroughly happy with the film.

My only niggle is with the 3D glasses. When you wear glasses anyway, wearing another set on top is a little uncomfortable. As your constantly thinking the 3D pair are going to fall off your nose. But other than that go and see the 3D version.

it's well worth the extra couple of quid on the ticket price.

Cheers

Snow Blanket
[info]annacara
When I left the house this morning there was a good 6" of snow on the ground. No roads had been gritted. So I attempted to get to work this morning. By 8am I was walking back home. one network of buses was cancelled completely and the other terminated ages before my destination. So half an hour away from home the bus driver dceided that was it and he wasn't going any further and if we could walk we should do. So I call work and said not going to happen. So I'm now at home watching tv all wrapped up. All the local kids are having a snow ball fight in the road.

Hope your having a better time than me.

cheers tracey

Opinions of Last Night
[info]annacara
Ok so last night was our departmental Xmas Do. There's only four of us plus Da Boss. so we booked Frankie and bennies and had a set menu. Food was ok and the service average. They were short staffed and two many parties (I counted two groups of 25+ and it was a small restuarant.) Anyway while we worked our way through the three courses (having to send one plate of food back twice as it was cold.) It was working out to be an OK evening. So I stepped out to the ladies and when I came back a few minutes later, everything seemed fine. The waitress had managed to clear the table and I think they were waiting for the bill.

Anyway I went to my bag (as you do)and I thought it looked strange. So I opened it up and my three companions had put the salt and pepper shakers in there and some left over wrapping paper (we had a secret santa). Ok Funny I thought. Then as I start to unpack the mess I see an empty coke glass in there and it was still cold. OK...... So as I unpacked more the remenants of the drink and ice had gone all inside my bag. Soaking it through. My Book was wet and my gloves and hat were soaked along with my keys.

I tried not to go ape. and kinda muffled a "Funny, Hah hah, guys." which came out a little strained. Anyway Norm phoned a few minutes later to say he was outside. So I made my excuses and left.

In a nutshell the evening was ok until that little Incident (which killed my evening.) I left feeling pissed off and in a way violated. Nobody goes through your stuff without asking. My MP3 player was in there and could easily have been ruined along with my USB Dongle (that contains all my fan fiction. So if that was destroyed all my work has gone.)Thankfully My phone was in my back pocket.

My book has now got a bad stain down the side (luckly it was a hard back.)

Anyway I'm in work now and I still feel pee'd off. No one owed up and they all pleaded innocence, which came across really childish. What I'm asking is

"Am I overeacting or should I just just ignore it under the guise of Xmas Spirit?"

Let me know what you think

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

A very busy 7 days, but we got in done. The weather could have been better it rained every other day.

So now I just have to wait another ten years for the next holiday

HP6
[info]annacara
Well I went to see the movie last night as a birthday present.

Now there are those of you that haven't seen it and want to, and those that really don't care.

All I can say is. I spent all night watching a movie that beared little resemblance to the book. There are points were both meet, but its only fleeting.

Don't get me wrong if you have never read the books and want to see it, you will enjoy it and its really well done.

But for the Purist's like myself (oh my god I'm turning into a death eater)its a disaster. I thing of the HP time-line as a straight line, with events happening all the way along. The film starts at the same point as Book 6 (Lets say the cover) and then veer off a 90 degrees to make its statement.

This is probably going to read very oddly. I'm sorry for that I just want to give anything away.

Anyway, I've said my two pennies worth.

Cheers

All I can Say is "Russell T Davis, what the hell have you done."

I have never seen a programme like Torchwood Systematicaly destroyed day after day.

what a waste, of money of acting talent and a fairly ok and enjoyable programme.

I want those Five nights back.

I'll step off my soapbox now.

Grumble. grumble begrudge begrudge.

Not happy, not happy.

Have had a very busy weekend.

It was the Normsters birthday in Friday and I took him to see Star Trek.

Now I haven't enjoyed any of the ST movies. I know, I know. But Friday Night I was very impressed. Its well put together, full of action from the first ten seconds. SFX are very Good and Zachery Quinto is rather Scary as a young Spock (I'm sure that you've seen the photos. The likeness is uncanny.)
The cast is excellent, Simon Pegg as scotty is rather funny.

I'm not gonna spoil it for any of you. I enjoyed it, the two hours whizzed by with out a moments rest. My only Gripe and its a minor one was the juddery camera angles when focused on one character, it makes it look cheap and its unnecessary.

Just so you know there nothing past the credits - to save you waiting.

They have already started to plan the next movie, so fingers crossed JJ Abrams can do it again.

Saturday Was spent walking round Snailwell Medieval fair, up past Newmarket way.

There I was thinking I'd meet aload of the Cambridge lot there( as its down the road.) Alas no. It had a rather high continguent of Americans (From all the Local Air Bases.)

And it was very good, had a nice low key feeling about it and had lots of traders. Cheap entrance (at only a fiver) and there was some good demonstrations. Weather was good and I got slight sun-burnt. I managed to only spend 35 quid on a new sliver bracelet, which is covered with Pagan charms.

Anyway exaatly a months time and its the Oyster Fayre in Colchester. Weather Permitting its one of the best Re-enactment fairs there is. We as usual will be attending on the Saturday. If anyone wishes to come down, say hi, have food and spend money.

toodles

Saw Wolverine origins on Wednesday.

Quite enjoyed it. The history is not as acturate my Normster tells me (he's a comic geek.)

but with any prequels I always find that they don't fully merge with what has already been filmed. I mean considering that there's 15 years between W:O and Xmen. Its a little hazy.

Oh and if you are thinkingof watching it. Stay past the credits. You get a cut scene about 30 seconds in with Striker. But you get another one right at the end. I won't spoil it for you but it tells you that there gonna make another one.

Oh and I'm still ill

And just so you Know Norm is another year older on friday.

bah.

Addiction Done
[info]annacara
Well I finally finished the last book in the Twilight Series, a heft 750 page hardback that started to give my wrist cramp.

Anyway its read, I won't spoil it for people in case they wish to read it themselves. I enjoyed it as a whole and I can see where she'd go, if she was to write anymore.

Just makes me wonder....

If we each wrote a story, what would it be???

Time to get back to the fanfiction (its not twilight). So I can finish it and move on to something else.

arrghhh Snow!
[info]annacara
I did'nt realised that it had snowed until I left the House (at 6am)by which it was too late to change into something more suitible.

So now I am sitting at work, with 2 jumpers on and a pair of fingerless gloves. My feet are like blocks of ice and are now getting to the Painfull cold stage. I have changed my shoes and my socks are drying out in the radiators.

Oh and the company turned the heating of during our shutdown. So the offices are still trying to thaw out.

So hello everyone. I'm cold, addicted to the Twilight series of books and I really don't like snow.

<Gets the body armour ready.>

I'm sorry But I have just finished reading the above three books in three days.

I should be ashamed of myself.

But I found myself, doing what I do with HP.

Its so bad I managed to burn norms dinner and it was only a fish finger sandwich.

Its been a while since this has happened and I can't seem to help myself. I ordered the last book to from Amazon, so I'm hoping it arrives at work Monday.

Someone take me outside and shoot me.

I need to know whats happening next. So much so I feeling the need for Fanfiction.

I suppose the up side is. That it will force me to reread the Lestat series again. I love Anne Rice to pieces, but her style of writing really can get bogged down with detail. Not so much in the first four books, but the rest certainly.

I need Help.

I'm getting the shakes over a mormon Novelist, who writes fiction for 12+ year olds.

The Shame, the Shame.

Tam I have let you down, my dearest freind. Will you every forgive me????

Oh joy.

[info]annacara
Norms ill on the sofa with cold. Dosed up with drugs while watching "the Big fat quiz of the year." Hey it keeps him happy.

Now don't shoot me Tam, But I have just finished reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

Ok, ok it was light reading a PG rated movie that reminded me soo much of the whole Buffy - Angel thing of so many years ago. With more angst than you could shake a stick at.

It was the Whole "I love you and I want to be with you. But I may kill you and I can't live with myself." Jog any memories anybody.

I know these books are touted at the 12+ market, so would they remember or even know the Buffy Angel triangle.

Anyway an easy read and I'm debating as to weather to get the other books. Looking at the reviews people either love or Hate the books. Her writing style is some what cop out ish. It's all in the 1st person. Which I'm sure at school I was told thats not the correct way to write.

If I wanted to I could my Fanfiction in 1st person. But it wouldn't make it good and before you all ask I write HP fanfiction not Twilight FF.

I read the spoliers for the last book so I know who the main character picks (per se.)

The film, well I saw that last night. Tam stop jumping up and down. It was free.
Anyway very slow to start, then kind of limps along a bit. Ignores major parts of the first book.

Anyway I'll stop ranting now, Norms just found a stash of tissues (that are better than normal tissues.) he's got a runny nose.

Also on a side note I finally unpacked. Yes you heard right unpacked the last few boxes in the study.

After more than a year were technically unpacked.

Rhona, if I'd known you were willing to travel that far I'd recommended the Remenent shop.

Hey ho.

Happy new year to everybody,

To Freinds in Cambridge, London, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Durham, The back of Beyond (Hi Marc.)
